Basic Info
I grew up in New Jersey.
Attended Undergraduate studies at Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey and majored in Business Management. Dabbled in the corporate world and than a small privately owned construction business that I helped run until I found it to be ultimately unfulfilling.
In the process to find my calling I traveled through Asia for close to 1 1/2 years. The purpose of this was to volunteer my time to poverty stricken countries, learn to follow my own heart, find the spiritual side of myself and fulfill my dream of traveling the world. I volunteered in many capacities ranging from teaching tribal children and monks English to caring for orphans and the elderly. I even had the opportunity to recycle paper from scratch (all natural) among other activities.
Upon arriving home in June of 2008 I spent time readjusting and trying to incorporate all I had seen and learned.
I found Mr. Chester Asher on idealist.org and his organization Transform America. I read the below and was instantly inspired.
"Mission:
To create and sustain a social justice movement to make positive, innovative, and progressive change. We utilize the synergy between student, non-profit, and community organizations to advance human rights by empowering communities
Vision:
We work to transform America into a place where poverty, injustice, racism, sexism, and any other type of "ism" that seek to dehumanize and oppress people are concepts that no longer play a role in our society. We seek to become a standard for social justice organizations creating a new movement through collaboration.
Individually we may make a change, but together, we can Transform America."
When I met the man I knew it was all true and proud to help.
This past spring I applied to grad school for social work.
I am most likely attending the New York University Silver School of Social Work in Fall 2009.
Also, I love music including live shows, the color blue, being social as well as my own private time.
I spend the little free time I find working for greater inner peace b/c the more at peace are with ourselves the more space and time we have to give to others. We as humans are interconnected and intertwined in too many ways to deny so we must work with each other and support each other as much and best we can.
